DVD rewritable media Verbatim (as well as CD-Rewritable) use SERL (Super Eutectic Recording Layer). SERL allows repeated registration without any noise. With conventional rewriteable media, the recording layer deteriorates with every rewrite, meaning a decrease in quality. With Verbatim rewritable media however, the recording layer on every erase cycle returns to its original state and the disk is perfectly prepared for the next recording.
DVD-RW media is sequential read and write, which is especially designed for video recording and continuous backup applications. DVD-RW discs can be written over 1000 times. The format DVD-RW supports a wide variety of DVD-ROM drives and DVD players.
